Steven's Birthday Wishlist

Every so often I think of something that I want, but I never write it down. I figured maybe I should do that. Here's a few things:

snowboard
electric guitar
nice brown shoes (I'd have to pick them...)
golf clubs
athletic shorts with pockets (the last ones mom bought are perfect!)
a nice looking digital watch

I'll probably add more to this list as I think of things...

Long Time, No Post

Sorry, I couldn't come up with a post with such a pain in my neck! It is much better, not all the way, but I don't have to stay stock still anymore. If I stay on my pain meds, I am better.

So, tonight we had a vegetarian dinner, low fat. I quite liked it. Linguine (fatter spaghetti), fancy salad, bread. Chase said he was only eating to fill up his stomach, not that he enjoyed it. He did like the salad, though.

Quinn is at scouts learning cooking for a merit badge.
Zak at home doing homework, finishing big project for crazy English teacher.
Chase got to play racquetball with Mike Miller today. It was fun.
Griffin went to pre-school, watched sponge bob, looked at super cook action figures on toysrus.com.
I did errands and such.
Dad did his usual work stuff.
Kylie...has enjoyed her Heely's from her birthday. And she enjoys playing prisoner ball at school.

Raining

It is raining here today - well, yesterday too.
There is a boy scout camp AND a primary family camp planned tonight. We hope they are all cancelled, or maybe we will do our own personal cancel. Too wet and muddy.

New Word - invented by Griffin

Griffin told me -

"Daddy is bouting to go".

If you are about to go, it makes sense that you could be bouting to go.

Good going, Griffin!

Oh Ye Of Little Faith....

Sometimes answers don't come immediately, sometimes they take two years!
August of 2006, Christopher was home from his mission. Steven just got home. We took the trip up to Utah and Idaho. My curiosity could no longer be contained about that little, basement house we always pass in Smithfield.
I wrote them a letter. Groans were heard from far and near.
Well, in the mail today, I got a RESPONSE!!
The daughter (c) of the lady that owns the house, nicely wrote me back. Her mother (b) never lived in the house, but her sister (a) did. That sister (a) is dead now, that property was inherited by the sister (b). The daughter (c) of the sister lives here in Encinitas CA, she was recently up visiting her mother (b). C was cleaning up, found the letter and told her mother (b) she would write me back. The mother (b) was glad the daughter (c) did.
Vindication for me!
She also sent me 2 family pictures too! She told me the whole history which I found amazing and she encouraged me to write her back!
See, you CAN make new friends!
I know no one cares as much as I do.

Because I was asked

RIBS:
I used pork ribs -
Peel off the membrane on the back of the rack.
Season:
Salt, pepper, Lawry's, and a "no salt" season. My friend likes them spicy, so she puts jalapeno peppers on the ribs also. Wrap the rack in foil.
I put the foiled racks on a cookie sheet. 2 racks fit on one cookie sheet. I cooked 4 racks in total.
That's it!!
Bake:
375 for 30 minutes
325 for 30 minutes
250 for 5 hours
Eat with BBQ sauce if you like.
The meat fell off the bone. Very delicious.

Right of Passage

Chase got his wisdom teeth out today.
We had to wait in the office for almost an hour before they started!
I was bugged!
Chase seemed calm.
Chase is currently resting on the couch.
So far, he has had a chocolate malt, a pina colada, (virgin, of course).

The rest, (well, not me) of us had more ribs and scalloped potatoes for dinner.
We still have more for left overs.
P.S. I found another, quite gruesome, but more applicable picture. Zak and Quinn both said it was too gross.

First Dinner, Second Dinner

A friend taught me how to make ribs yesterday. They need to cook for 6 hours. Today, I did it and they are so good!
I made enough dinner; ribs and scalloped potatoes; for everyone to eat a First Dinner and then later, a Second Dinner.
Left overs, anyone?

2 Weeks Left in Virtual Stock Exchange Contest

The Cole Family Investment Competition ends on May 26. Make your last second genius buys (especially Christopher who is the southernmost dog pulling on a northbound dog sled. How's that view workin' for you?)
Zachary is in the lead with Kylie close behind. They are the only two who are currently profitable. (It's been a tough market during the time of our competition!)

Zak $116,879 +16.88%
Kylie 113,478
Dad 94,850
Chase 94,300
Mom 87,968
Steven 87,420
Quinn 86,168
Christopher 79,132

Kylie could overtake Zak. Chase could overtake Dad. Steven and/or Quinn could overtake Mom.
Christopher . . . well . . . Christopher's ahead in real life earnings power at the moment.

Weight

Zak: 141.6
Quinn: 107.8
Chase: 150 9% body fat

Saturday is a Special Day

Dad: (and Kylie) went to a Daddy Daughter event that the stake put on. It was a Western theme, they did square dancing directed by Candice. Dad did his usual work on having a open house, and he fixed sprinklers, then washed his car!

Mom: did the Daddy Daughter event, glad it turned out so good. Watched Kylie pitch her whole softball game, came home and napped, then grocery shopped. Hopefully I will end the evening with a movie....Dan in Real Life.

Chase: worked with Mike Miller today. Helped him clean out apartments. Mike then took him to Chili's for lunch. Chase quite enjoyed it.

Zak: played games all day.

Quinn: played games with Zak all day and finally emptied the dishwasher and the house trash. Thank you VERY much!

Kylie: See Dad. See Mom. Kylie did GREAT in her game. She is fun to watch. She also made the all star team.

Griffin: played, played, played. Went to Kylie's softball game. Took a bath. Poured too much water on the bathroom floor. (Mom is ignoring it.)

I guess I have stopped taking pictures...hmm

Not Much Happening

Everyone is doing the usual stuff:

Dad: tonight at his usual meeting.
Me: the usual; blogging, ha ha I have plenty of cleaning I could do.
Chase: at a movie - watching Iron Man with Jake and Niki. He usually goes to the YMCA to work out everyday and then does a bike ride - today from Foothill all the way up Canyon.
Zak: wasting time on the computer instead of doing homework. Last night he was up until midnight working on a project.
Quinn: same as above, except for the midnight part
Kylie: showering; she has finished her homework
Griffin: watching cartoons; playing toys

Tonight, we went to Paco's for dinner. We all enjoyed the whole experience. Dad and Griffin stayed at home. Griffin was just waking up from a nap and in NO mood to to out. Dad said he would stay with Griffin.

Now you are all in the know!

Home Run and a Late Dinner

Saturday, May 3rd -
Kylie HIT A HOME RUN!
It was quite exciting!

Here is a close-up of the actual ball.
She wrote on it herself.

Then that night, I had a Stake Baptism that I had to be at that started at 5:00pm. I did my duty, then came home, Chase, Zak and Quinn were waiting for me to give them a hair cut. I had already cut Dad's hair earlier that day.
I changed my clothes and began the cutting. I got done around 8:30. Then they all complained of hunger! I tried to pass off cereal, but it was a no go!
I made oatmeal, and cream of wheat and toast to satisfy the beasts!
We ended up eating our dinner at 9:00pm!! Way too late for regular people.

Another Beginning for Joe

Joe Bouquet died yesterday around 8:00pm at Methodist Hospital. He was 88. He had congestive heart failure. He was the youngest person to die in his immediate family.

We knew he was failing for awhile. I never spoke of it. I thought you all (Christopher and Steven) should know.

Now I wonder, has anyone talked to him of the gospel yet? Has he thought of his neighbors across the street who tried to enlighten him? Hmm. That's what I think about. This is his new beginning.

Unstitched and Other News

I got my stitches out today. Yes, I had stitches in 4 places on my abdomen. 2 of the places have the stitches on the INSIDE and those will dissolve in 3 months. The other 2 places the doctor took out today. It didn't hurt, to my relief.

The doctor said, still no driving, no carry heavy objects, no exercise for two more weeks. "Ok", I said as I thought about the car that I drove myself out there in. Oh, yea, I am sure he said no cleaning or cooking either, ha ha.

In OTHER NEWS:

Dad sold the Larkfield house, YEA!

Chase has been home for a day and it has been delightful. He has probably gone through a bit of cultural shock when we all go to bed at 8, 9 and 10:00pm. He also got an A in CALCULUS!

Zak is playing his last volleyball game right now.

Quinn is doing school testing. He is also enjoying Chase's company. They play guitar hero.

Kylie is also doing school testing. He learned about volume in class today.

Griffin enjoyed pre-school today. I am sure he learned social skills. He is currently eating a waffle, the lucky boy. He was very concerned about how the doctor would take out my stitches.

That's it!
