What's On Your Dinner Plate?

Griffin walks home from school by himself.
He does a great job!
I think he feels quite accomplished.
He is usually home by 2:45 or so.

One day he was not home by 2:51...hmmm, I began wondering where was he??
I had to leave to go and pick up Z & Q at high school. I walked to the car and looked down the street where Griffin should have been coming up.

In a moment, I saw him running up to the corner! Hmm, odd, since it has taken him so far 16 minutes to get about 5 blocks. He certainly wasn't running the whole way!

He got over to me and I asked him why he was running.
This was his story:

"When I get to that part, I always hear the leaves moving and it scares me a little because I don't want it to be a spider as big as a dinner plate, so I run at the part."

I hugged and kissed him.

Memory Lane & Eagle Avenue

I have great post ideas....they are all just in my head!
I feel a little like Scarlett, but I continue to think that I'll do it tomorrow!
But, today, I had to make myself take time to look through old pictures (for about 1 1/2 hours!) trying to find pictures of Zak during his scouting adventures!
You see, Zak has achieved the Boy Scouting rank of EAGLE!
Only about 2% of all those that join Boy Scouts become an Eagle.

For his Court of Honor, where he actually gets his award, there will be a slide show. Therefore, I have had to find the pictures for the show.

While looking at pictures, which I loved(!), I came across some other pictures that are so sweet, I wanted to share:

Here is Griffin. I think this is in 2006. That would put him at 3. He wanted to be Sleeping Beauty! I suggested that maybe he meant the Prince in the movie. Yes, that's what he meant, so I made him his costume. He wore it many times; all before Halloween. When the actual day came, he chose to wear something else. What a sweet face!

THIS little girl is Kylie!! She could be 7 here!
She is in line at a Disneyland attraction. I am so appreciative of all those Disneyland memories!

Still 2006
Kerry and Zak JUST came home from a camping trip in the Sierras.
It was Kerry's birthday while he was gone. I made up a box 'o plenty for him to open when he got home.
Look at that SWEET CHASE!! With Braces!! I could just hug and squeeze them both!

Opening his box

Steven taking a picture of himself!

He must have just gotten home from his mission the month before!

Twinkies & Pepsi!

Look at that happy face!

And there is Christopher!

What boys enjoy eating (maybe) while camping

I am thankful you are ALL in my life!

You make it better!

Rats! It's the First Day of School!

Which one of these animals......
Gave us this BIG gift? Really, it could have been any of them.

AND, it was the first day of school!!
Kylie going to Middle School....6th grade
Griffin going to 2nd grade...to elementary school all by himself!
Chase off to college (14th grade, as we told Griffin)
Kerry...to work to pay for it all!
It was a made house this morning, with all the people leaving at all different times. Zak and Quinn were out the door before I could grab my camera! Here are their pictures "on the fly"!
Zak, a Senior!! (my 4th!)

Quinn a Sophomore!

Now I have to race out the door to begin all the pick ups!!

Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard California!!

For the GREAT, Final Summer ADVENTURE we drove out to Oxnard to watch the Cowboys at their training camp. It was something we were glad we did, but no one wants to go back tomorrow. Here are a few photos:

There were signs all along the way, making sure we would get there Tony Romo #9 and his back up #3 John Kitna

The Crew watching....
Griffin had to hold my purse because he kept holding and dragging on to it making it too heavy for my shoulder.

Random players
I will put up more, better pictures later...too tired now.

Tomatoes!!

Kylie gave her dad a tomato plant for his birthday on August 11th.
It has grown HUGE!
They picked the first tomato the other day. It was a proud moment!

Streak For Cash...Food Style

We have been playing ESPN's Streak For Cash!
It is kind of like gambling...with no money involved, you just pick who you think will win a certain sporting event. IF you get your streak of winning for the month to around 20 - 25 you will probably be the winner of $250,000!
I have only been about to get my streak to 4! Very frustrating. You get a nice star if you can get to 5. Those that have received a star: Kerry & Steven have both gotten 6 this month, Zak got 8! in July, this month it is only 3. Quinn got a streak of 9 between July & August, but this month has only recorded 2. Heather has gotten a 5, Chase is just about to get a 5 (if the Red's win their game tonight). Christopher has also gotten a 5 this month.
So, last night at dinner someone said "too bad there is no streak for cash for great dinners!" I agreed! Sometimes I have made some real stink pots for dinner, but my streak has been really great lately. We went to the Taco truck last Friday (come on! We had to, Chase needed to experience it since his mission!) Since then I have made 6 great dinners! Tonight we ate French Dip Sandwiches. I made the roast beef. It was good.
It is always nice to make others happy.
**UPDATE - oh, one other GREAT thing I did today: I got the ring OUT of all our toilets! It was quite exciting.

Hmm, a Post About Food - That's How Life Is In My Head

Breakfast:

Griffin woke up wanting French Toast.

That's fine, and somewhat usual, BUT I woke up feeling a little nauseated, which reminded me to check the eggs I bought (and used some of last night) to see if they are part of the egg recall for Salmonella. I checked and YES they did need to be returned!! Hmm...nausea... Better now.

Plan #2 - Griffin said he would have oatmeal; Chase said he'd eat some too, so I made a nice amount. I was grateful that I found a whole new "bucket" of oatmeal in the pantry. When I opened it up I thought it smelled a bit off, but I made it anyway. The smell lingered, so I checked the expiration date....that was March of 2007....no wonder it had a smell. No one ate that.

Plan #3 - Life cereal. That was good, not expired, nor holding a bad virus.

Later in the day I had to take Zak to the orthodontist. While I waited (for AN HOUR!!) Kerry texted me that the Sparta soccer team was losing; which is what Zak voted for in the Streak for Cash! I went to the back to tell him. While there, he showed me the kelly green color that he picked for his braces. It was a nice color. I walked back out to the waiting area. Finally, 3 magazines later, he walked out. We got his new appointment. He smiled a few times, I looked...and wondered....was that the color he chose?? He was looking in the mirror at his teeth, I asked him, and NO, he did NOT chose that LIME GREEN color!! We laughed. What else could we do? I'll add the picture later - - he is not home, he is registering for school. **It's later; I've added the picture.

Tonight, it will be chicken enchiladas. In lines, as the kids like to say.
**NOTE: dinner was FABULOUS!!

A Little Glade?

I was gone to tennis.
Griffin, apparently, enjoyed himself in the bathroom.

As he was walking toward me, I smelled him, then I saw that his hair was wet.

Here is his story:
He just couldn't resist spraying his whole body with the air freshener, glade spray. AND he likes his hair better when it is wet, so he sprayed his hair a lot until it felt wet.

He likes how he smells.
It is a little over powering for me....at least we'll know when he is coming.

Honestly, I need to write more of these episodes down. I am sure there is at least one a day. Oh, the mind of a 7 year old!
