The Leaving

It has taken me 4 tries to get these pictures up here!
Oh, I am glad to do it.
Ok, let's relive the last hour Zak was at the house...

Here he is looking casual in the kitchen

All the children looking casual in the kitchen:

Oops, had to come back, forgot something...

Walking out the back door:

 Walking out the gate
Trying to touch the rim...(really I am trying to catch the actual touch of the rim in my picture)
 Got it!!
 Getting in the car:
hmm...these next 3 are out of place, but lets just go with it...
Here everyone is in the car JUST before we let Zak out:
There is the man that gave us his 5 sentence "talk". I'm sure he gave the same one 550 times that day!
The nice elder that helped Zak get his luggage out of the car
This should be the last picture...
Oh...here we are just back to just starting out our drive:
 Zak's packed luggage
Zak's overcoat. They are very formal in Boston!
Eating breakfast at Nana and Bumpa's
 Putting his shoes on
I shaved his neck the night before. Doesn't it look so nice?

 Happy Zak

After we dropped him off, we had a great meal in Provo. I'll post those pictures tomorrow!

NINJA in the Classroom

A few minutes before Griffin was to go to school, he told me that he would not have ANY recess that day. Sad for an 8 year old boy. I asked why. Apparently, yesterday he and his friend, Will thought they would play Ninja. They had finished all that they were supposed to do; they struck their pose, then decided maybe that was not a great idea and stopped. I wrote to his teacher to find out "the deal". She nicely wrote me back:

"the direction I gave was for the students to get into their seats, clean up
their desks and around their area, and prepare for the next task. As many
students were following the directions, I look over and see Griffin and Will
with arms and a leg raised and poised in a fighting stance about to engage. Even
in fun, this is not appropriate behavior in the classroom."

I'm sorry, this still makes me laugh; just the image of those boys posed as Ninjas. So let this be a caution to you all!

How to Pinterest....

I wanted to pin something on Pinterest today. You have to "pin" an item that you find on the any webpage. Ok, I can do that. I will now pin this on the large world wall of Pinterest.com I'll call it helicopter mom. Good look for it.

Machetes

So in scouts we decided a few months ago that we were going to make machetes, so we did

this is a picture from a few weeks ago of my machete
Here I am trying to sharpen it with a file (since then I have sharpened it with a grinder and it is actually sharp)
This is my scoutmaster's machete, he plans to actually use it on his many woodsman expeditions

It's all been very fun to make these machetes, and we are still working on them. This Tuesday we will be putting the wooden handles and then we should be just about finished

Here is a video I found on youtube that talks about making machetes
p.s. I haven't seen this video

This blog post also just got me communications merit badge so thank you

I've Been Trained to do THIS!

Every day, lately, as I walk in the back door, this guy greets me: I find him very funny. I can only guess who arranged him there, but I do enjoy his greeting. I thought I would take his picture and let you all enjoy. THEN, I have the genius idea to play

I SPY

Just look for this list of things. It could be fun. Comment about what you could or could not find!

tissue packet; glasses; x-ray file cover; blockbuster phone #

wrapping paper cutter; how many calories in 1 serving of tomato sauce

a mis-spelled word; a machine gun

**note: you may or may not be able to find 2 of those items. I was able to use the zoom on the picture, but I see after I publish the post I do not have that tool anymore....

Rootbeer!

Mr. Lucky, also known as your dad, won a $100 gift card to BevMo. That is like a big warehouse that sells drinks. He decided to buy several different types of Rootbeer! We were going to (which we did) have a rootbeer tasting party during the Superbowl. Well, we started a few days before the superbowl. It is quite fun and interesting to taste different types of rootbeer. I highly recommend it, especially if you can do it for FREE!!

We still have plenty left over. It is a delight to pull one out of the box and give it a try!
